Doctolib is hiring a

Software Engineer - Ruby, React (x/f/m)

Berlin, Germany

What we do

You're going to be part of PASTA (Performance And STAbility), a Berlin-based international team focused on improving the performance, the features and design of our core product, the BMS (Booking Management System). Any extra millisecond that we can shave off - be it on the front or back end - we do it! Doctolib's unprecedented growth in the last 10 years was made possible thanks to pragmatism and avoiding premature optimization at any cost. In order to keep scaling, performance has now become a first-class citizen and we sometimes must rethink how key features are architectured. Besides performance, our team also focuses on identifying and launching new products to upgrade our software suite, which is used daily by hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals.

Lately, we've also been focusing on refreshing and simplifying our user interfaces, to celebrate Doctolib's 10th year anniversary. We've also worked hard to replace outdated parts with modern in-house components, coming from our internal design system, which we continuously improve and extend.

What you’ll do

As a Full Stack Software Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Improving the performance of key features implemented in React (TypeScript/Javascript) and Ruby on Rails, sometimes completely challenging the status quo
  • Thinking user first and help improve our user experience through new features, new products and design updates while maintaining high code quality standards
  • Taking leadership on delivering roadmap items (together with the team)
  • Helping keep our bug backlog small
  • Contributing to establishing a technical vision and co-drive the creation of the roadmap for the next quarters
  • Bringing your expertise and past experiences to help us continuously improve the way we work

Who you are

What we look for is someone who is proactive, involved, curious, and collaborative. You write test-driven pragmatically engineered code. We don’t mind if you have not worked in a Ruby/React environment: if you are ready to learn, we are ready to teach you. You are expected to complete a homework test and your code will be discussed with you if it passes our review.
