About the role... 

Inari is looking for an Artificial Intelligence/Data Science intern to work in our Cambridge, MA location, starting May 15 – June 5 and ending August 11. 

 

As an AI Intern at Inari, you will: 

  • Work with your mentor to triage potential projects and pick the most viable and interesting one 
  • Partner with Data Scientists, Plant Geneticists, Plant Breeders, and Agronomists to understand the problem at hand and scope the needs and success of the project
  • Handle and process real world data that may not always be picture perfect
  • Explore potential AI modeling/algorithmic solutions and select the best candidates, then implement, train, and test the models to determine the highest performers
  • Gain experience productizing AI models that integrate with and extend our genomic or agronomic data platforms
  • Develop tools to enable our science and/or product teams to make decisions  in their day-to-day responsibilities
  • Gain experience working in a cloud environment with containerized workflows 

 

You bring… 

  • Open to current PhD students in Computer Science or related field 
  • Research experience in AI, ML, or Data Science methods 
  • Ability to digest research papers and discuss research directions
  • Strong knowledge of Python and associated AI scientific computing packages
  • Hands-on experience applying ML algorithms, ideally in agriculture or life sciences
  • Ability to work and learn independently
  • Willingness to be bold and take risks
  • Openness to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback across multiple teams
  • A curiosity about agriculture and biology; familiarity with multi-omics data and/or agricultural data is a plus
