Special Assistant to the CEO

Rex, founded and led by billion-dollar investment and operations company Executive Chairman Peter Rex, is looking for a Special Assistant to the CEO in Austin, TX. 

You are the primary “gatekeeper” for the CEO, protecting his time and resources on a daily basis. No one reaches the CEO without first going through you, as you ensure the CEO's time is protected from irrelevant or unnecessary distractions. 

You will staff the CEO for all events and meetings, ensuring that he arrives on time and is fully prepared and briefed. You must be capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and solving problems on the spot. 

You thrive in a role where you are primarily behind the scenes and making other people shine. However, you also are able to publicly represent the CEO with ease and social acumen in a wide-variety of environments and settings.   

You understand the importance of discretion, and are eager to aid the CEO in all aspects of running a business. 

You will find a way or make one. 

In year one you will be: 

  • Preparing and staffing meetings for the CEO 
  • Handling daily administrative items, including (but not limited to): managing daily schedule; discussing and presenting updates on high-level projects; providing information on local & world news as well as relevant cultural events 
  • Voraciously and proactively protecting the CEO's time, space, and interests in all arenas of life 
  • Acting as a facilitator for the CEO, pro-actively solving problems that others do not see or anticipate, while also blocking & filtering distractions that do not need executive visibility 
  • Representing the CEO and entertaining high-level guests, both professional and personal 
  • Gaining exposure to all aspects of the company, including the daily life of the CEO and his network  

The ideal candidate has: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from 4-year accredited university 
  • 3+ years professional experience 
  • Flexibility to work extended and unscheduled hours including nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Impeccable driving record 
  • Strong desire to elevate the success of others and the team, while having low external visibility 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced organization 
  • Extreme bias to execute 
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills 
  • Willingness to relocate to Austin
