So, what’s the role?

We are looking for a Sr. Complex Property Claims Adjuster with experience handling pre-litigated property claims to join our growing team!

Because we tackle insurance differently, we want you to draw on your expertise in Florida residential property claims while helping us to continue to innovate on behalf of Kin’s customers and our stakeholders.

In this role, you can expect to handle structure/dwelling/contents claims while working with public adjusters and attorneys that represent the insured. It is pivotal that you exhibit strong negotiation tactics in addition to analytical, organizational, and investigative skills. While you will be working closely within the claim, customer service is a pivotal part of our process as you are helping our insureds get back to their version of “normal”.

A day in the life could include: 

  • Examining and appropriately interpreting insureds’ policies, forms in force, and other records to determine coverage and extent of company’s liability
  • Communicating and corresponding with customers throughout the Claims process while providing high quality customer service
  • Drafting, approving, and adjusting estimates of damage and loss amounts
  • Using varying methods of investigation, including taking recorded statements, consulting with police, fire departments inspecting property damage, and reviewing documentation
  • Estimating cost of repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Ensuring the adequacy of reserves
  • Writing clear, concise diary notes, setting field assignments, setting and saving contacts, and issuing payments
  • Appropriately applying knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 4+ years of first-party property claims adjusting (includes pre-litigation, NOI and CRN handling)
  • Experience working directly with a carrier
  • Working knowledge of Florida insurance laws and good faith claims handling experience
  • Ability to work with attorneys and public adjusters 
  • Vendor management and negotiation experience
  • Enjoys working with new tech while currently utilizing Xactimate and other claims software/programs
  • Outstanding written and verbal communicator

Bonus Points:

You possess a strong understanding of the litigation process and prior deposition and/or mediation experience
