Sr. Manager International Supply Chain Planner



Sr. Manager - International Supply Chain Strategy 

This role will play a pivotal role in building out the company's strategy with respect to international Supply Chain positioning. They will establish processes within the SC and with stakeholders to ensure we’re both compliant and optimizing our global flow of materials. They will also manage a growing logistics team that will be responsible for all the finished good shipments.


  • Evaluate needs of future products and lead initiatives as it pertains to the SC set-up, such as warehousing locations, tariffs, duties, licensing, and other considerations. 
  • Act as SME to anticipate and mitigate the impact of changes in tariff/duty policies that will impact Zymergen’s existing operations. 
  • Partner with Inventory and Logistics teams to design and implement the processes necessary for import/export control and compliance. 
  • Assume responsibility for hiring and managing team responsible for execution of the global finished goods delivery. 
  • Establish process with Sales to make sure Incoterms, HTS codes, etc. are optimized for revenue and other considerations.
  • Work closely with Corporate Compliance Department to address commercial needs related to trade compliance.
  • Assist with applications for export authorizations with various US government entities. 
  • Develop and assist with customs brokering process.
  • Implement and oversee KPIs, as they pertain to measuring the success of international trade/logistics. 


  • 5+ years of experience in international import/export and trade compliance
  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, trade/logistics/business management or similar
  • Experience hiring and managing global teams 
  • Certified/licensed customs broker preferred
  • IATA and/or IMDG certification preferred
  • Experience with trade compliance in non-US jurisdictions (particularly EU and Asia) is a plus
  • High proficiency in G-suite and MS Excel. Experience with Netsuite a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment. Problem-solving, collaborative attitude.

Additional Details

International travel will be required, once possible. Working hour flexibility to accommodate global operations and meetings. This position can be remote.
