About the Role: 

The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of the finance organization, with a broad set of responsibilities. The successful candidate will have the ability to proactively communicate with multiple internal and external parties in a fast-paced environment. A “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality, strong problem-solving attitude, and willingness to be intimately involved in all aspects of the company are essential to the role. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Key team member of the monthly close process. Key responsibilities include preparing balance sheet reconciliations, recording accruals & prepaids, month-end adjustments, and performing analysis on various GL accounts per the monthly close checklist.  
  • Help the Senior Accountant prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual external financial statements and internal financial profitability and expense reports for management or the board of directors. 
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly financial transaction processing including cash disbursements, cash receipts, fixed assets, credit cards, expense reports, and general ledger.  
  • Review and process employee expense reports, including enforcing the Company’s travel & expense policy. 
  • Manage and monitor department credit card purchases, including working with department heads to confirm compliance with company policy.  
  • Manage AP Aging and payables with our AP automation solution.   
  • Support the Senior Revenue Accountant with customer billing and AR Aging.   
  • Assist with requests from our third-party auditors to ensure a timely audit.  
  • Help maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures for vendors, employees, payroll, treasury, and general ledger. Maintain current knowledge on accounting trends and best practices. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting; three or more years of accounting experience.  
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles including closing a set of books. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Ability to design, create, and report on complex financial transactions with large amounts of data is a plus.  
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP. 
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of accounting systems, specifically QuickBooks Online. 
  • Self-motivated and has strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels and departments within the company.

This is a hybrid role with one to two days in the Boston office.
