The NYC Campus Team

General Assembly’s NYC Campus is our first and largest campus globally. We teach over 15 classes both part-time and full-time (known as Immersives) to a variety of professionals looking to either change their careers or level-up in their current jobs. Our instructors are some of the top industry experts and are managed by a team of Faculty Chairs and we provide Instructional Coaching and regular professional development for our instructional teams. We also have a team of admissions producers to help students discover their journey with General Assembly, career coaches to empower our immersive students to find gainful employment post-graduation, and a production team to run the operations and management of the entire campus. This role will sit on the NYC Production team.

The Role

As our Staffing Specialist, you should excel at managing relationships, organization and leveraging systems and processes for operational success. You’ll be responsible for driving a positive candidate experience and ensuring that all part-time and full-time courses at General Assembly’s New York City campus are staffed with a highly-skilled instructional team of both lead instructors and instructional associates. The staffing specialist will be responsible for interviewing candidates, sending offers, renewing contracts for returning lead instructors and instructional associates, and finding efficiencies and leverage systems to constantly improve our processes. This person will also be responsible for recruiting talent for part-time courses and generating ongoing pipeline for these roles.

  • Partner with current lead instructors and faculty chairs to interview and hire instructional associates in a variety of fields in the digital landscape, not limited to but including: Web Development, User Experience Design, Data Science, iOS and Android Development, and Digital Marketing
  • Partner with production team and Faculty Chairs to hire lead instructors for both immersive and part-time programs
  • Identify, develop and maintain a network of contacts and resources to generate qualified, diverse candidate pools for strategic needs in an effective manner.
  • Maintain accurate and concise records regarding the recruitment and selection process within our ATS (Greenhouse)
  • Manage the candidate experience as he/she goes through the recruitment process. Ensure the most positive experience through accuracy of information relayed and timely response to information requests.
  • Maintain a great nose for talent- understand that teaching at General Assembly requires a special combination of technical skills and empathy for our students and ensure each hire is aligned with our values and standards
  • Recognize when there are opportunities for part-time candidates to interview and be convered to full-time roles with the company.

You are:

  • A former recruiter or staffing professional with 1+ years experience, ideally in the tech or creative industry OR
  • A current employee of GA with demonstrated excellence in the core competencies outlined below
  • Exceptionally organized, love interacting with people on a daily basis and have a brain for process improvements and improving the status quo
