Seeking a Student Experience Producer

Streamline course operations by finding and implementing process efficiencies to provide General Assembly students with a high quality, on-brand experience at each point of their journey at GA. You’ll be responsible for implementing tools, systems, and processes that foster a best-in-class experience for all incoming and current part-time and immersive students, and all our alumni too! The Student Experience Producer handles student inquiries, onboards new students, and oversees the production of our alumni programs.

Our community is at the heart of what we do at GA and we need someone bright, amiable, and organised to be the face and first interaction with our students and instructors. We’re looking for a multitasker who can thrive under high-pressure situations, who has a strong desire to help people and problem solve in a timely manner. A background in event production or project management is a bonus, as you’ll be handling lots of moving pieces. You should be passionate about the Sydney startup ecosystem and excited to learn.

This position is heavily involved in managing the daily operations of our Sydney campus. The main focus of this role is to be a production and customer service wizard, but here are other day to day tasks that you’ll be assisting in:

  • Managing our campus provisions and ensuring the physical environment of campus is well-maintained
  • Managing and coaching our Front Lines team to deliver high-quality student support and ensuring all outside-hours shifts are resourced sufficiently with trained personnel
  • Implementing an effective pre-course engagement strategy for incoming students, and ensuring all are onboarded to their upcoming courses and have access to all platforms required
  • Own in-class operations including course launches and surprise & delight, planning social activities and community engagement for current students
  • Managing the Sydney email and telephone and responding to all inquiries within 24 hours
  • Checking in with all current students at regular intervals to ensure any feedback or issues are responded to quickly
  • Off-boarding all students who complete their courses and liaising with our alumni network to foster continued engagement within the community
  • Staying up to date on Product updates and materials so that students have most up to date resources for their programs
  • Assisting the marketing team with various production tasks including social media planning

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A self starter with a keen attention to detail
  • 1-2 years experience (preferably in a customer service role)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Resourceful – ability to make magic happen with limited resources
  • Strong command of the digital ecosystem in the local market
  • Entrepreneur at heart – you enjoy working as part of a small team, rapidly iterating on strategy, executing at a fast pace every day, and getting your hands dirty to build something great

You are an Entrepreneur at Heart: You prefer the opportunity that comes from being part of a small team to the predictability that comes with larger organizations. You are not afraid of getting your hands dirty, diving into the weeds to understand your business to its core—yet you maintain the vision that keeps your team inspired.

You are Collaborative but Self-Directed: You enjoy brainstorming with others, but are independent and resourceful, requiring minimal guidance. You are not possessive of ideas or thin-skinned when it comes to critique. At the same time, you know how to deliver constructive feedback to others, and possess a strong point of view.

You are Unafraid of Failure: You believe that prototyping is the quickest way to kick the tires on an idea, and enjoy engaging in discussions around your work with members of the education team, colleagues from other verticals, and users. You have been criticized for moving too quickly.

You are Highly Organised: When it comes to workflow, you take pride in your organizational skills. You feel comfortable working with cross-functional partner staff as well as internal personnel—including education experts, technologists, and designers. That is, you see your role as not only implementing quality programming , but also coordinating all necessary parties externally and internally to get the job done.

You have Emotional Intelligence: In this high-touch customer facing role, you are constantly dealing with complex and delicate personal stories. As a self-aware individual you know when to listen and when to provide advice. You are able to empathize with anyone and can handle other people’s stress. You generally are optimistic about outcomes and enjoy making friends with new people. You can be reflective when something hasn’t gone as planned and adapt quickly to get back on course.

As the Student Experience Lead at General Assembly, you will be at the centre of Sydney’s technology ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to interact with some of the smartest entrepreneurs, hackers and designers on a daily basis - and you will be telling them what to do!

*This is a full-time position at our city campus, 56-58 York St, Sydney.
