System Test Developer

Reporting to the Manager, Software Test Development, this position will focus on design validation and product testing of combined hardware and software systems in an R&D lab environment. You will work on new products as well as design modifications to released products.

 

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Participating in project concept meetings to determine test requirements
  • Preparing test procedures, documentation, and test reports
  • Identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs to resolution
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software systems
  • Executing tests on fully or partially integrated systems
  • Developing automated tools and procedures to support your testing
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software components
  • Communicating and summarizing status to the project team

You have all of the following qualifications:

  • Dedication to product quality and test as a craft
  • Ability to work with external vendors to drive solutions
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a diploma or degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or a related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware or software testing
  • Authorized to work in Canada

You have some of the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with electronic hardware design
  • Use or knowledge of audio and video test equipment and test procedures
  • Experience installing electronic systems, particularly audio and video systems
  • Experience with quality metrics
  • Experience with test automation, software development, scripting
  • Firmware, drivers or USB stack testing
  • Mobile, embedded, or wireless device testing

Working conditions

  • Office-based role (due to the hands-on hardware requirement)
  • The candidate will work in both an office and a laboratory environment.
  • Some international travel may be required
  • Some meetings outside North American regular office hours may be required
