We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT department. As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our academic and administrative server and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide exceptional IT services. This role involves ensuring the stable operation of IT systems, including server hardware, software, cloud, and virtual environments. Troubleshooting server performance issues, analyzing data capacity, and providing storage planning solutions are also key responsibilities. Additionally, you will contribute to driving technology transformation across various networks, servers, and platforms.
 
As a Systems Administrator, you will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, while demonstrating an understanding of our clients' technical architecture. You will collaborate with diverse teams, including technical and non-technical resources. Effective communication and the ability to convey technically complex solutions to different audiences are crucial for success in this role.
 
You will maintain and configure systems, servers, and data center resources. Taking a proactive approach to technical projects and problems is essential, and you should possess strong troubleshooting skills. You will frequently interact with third-party vendor technical support, help desk staff, and supervisors to ensure prompt resolution of outages and implementation of high availability solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Administer multiple mission-critical Windows-based application servers in a virtualized environment.
  • Support applications such as email systems and Web services associated with applications in an enterprise-wide system.
  • Perform technical tasks related to the installation, support and maintenance of network-based applications and MS-SQL databases.
  • Resolve technical support issues related to supported systems.
  • Create, maintain and audit user accounts, mailing lists, and related systems.
  • Coordinate activities with vendors and outside consultants to provide support for various systems.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, applications, cloud, security, and configurations.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and technical services for procurement.
  • Manage the Active Directory and LDAP environment.
  • Ensure accuracy and usefulness of the infrastructure inventory database for all equipment.
  • Support the server infrastructure including operating system configurations, backups, and patches.
  • Monitor and report system performance and utilization.
  • Secure network-based server access by implementing and enforcing security policies and procedures on premises and in the cloud.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline with 2+ years of work experience in a Systems Administrator role.
  • Preferred certifications: Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure
  • Intermediate-level experience configuring and troubleshooting operating Microsoft Server
  • Intermediate -level experience configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory Services, including AD administration, user account creation, OUs, security classes, and distribution lists.
  • Azure AD Connect administration experience.
  • Network printer setup including wireless user configuration.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Exchange and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge of storage array management.
  • Ability to maintain SSL certificates.
  • Familiarity with DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with automating Windows Server updates through Group Policy

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with Hyper-V or VMWare
  • Experience with Cloud IaaS technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure (Azure).
  • Familiarity with MS-TEAMS 
  • Knowledge of VM setup in Azure
  • Ability to partner with external vendors
