The Role

Our Corporate and Business Development team is responsible for evaluating and driving the execution of strategic growth opportunities for BenevolentAI via partnerships and collaborations, execution of licensing deals, and robust opportunity and portfolio analysis ensuring the appropriate rigour of commercial thinking is applied throughout our pipeline to underpin future growth.

As a member of the Business Development team, you will help drive future growth for Benevolent leading Commercial, Portfolio, and Licensing projects

You will be joining a growing team reporting to VP Business Development and working closely with others across the business. The role requires engaging various internal and external stakeholders, working closely with the Executive Team and collaborating across teams and functions. It also involves communicating and presenting the business opportunities internally to key stakeholders and externally to potential partners.

This is an important role that offers the opportunity to help shape the company’s growth trajectory and business opportunities and make a transformative impact in the drug discovery industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the commercial lead on specific pipeline project teams providing commercial insight to guide the necessary strategic direction to optimise the development and commercialisation of the asset and gain traction with future partners
  • Evaluating drug development opportunities, building out high-quality Commercial Assessments for given disease indications and drug programmes to provide strategic direction and support deployment/programme/portfolio decision making.
  • Conducting robust analyses on the market and commercial opportunities to ensure data-led decision-making and informed decisions
  • Developing forecasting and P&L/NPV models to support the business case and to support licensing initiatives
  • Leading out-licensing initiatives, undertaking outreach and engagement with potential pharma/biotech partners, building rapport and establishing strong relationships for out-licensing discussions.
  • Working collaboratively with the project teams to build out robust evidence packages and presentations to support partnering discussions
  • Coordinating due diligence efforts with prospective external partners
  • Working closely with the VP Business Development and other Executive Leadership Team members, to shape potential deal structures with prospective external partners, negotiate terms and progress contracting and deal execution.
  • Supporting outreach and engagement with potential pharma/biotech partners for collaborations and deal execution as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the broader Business Development and Commercial team to drive towards the success and delivery of departmental objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Handling ad-hoc queries, analysis, materials preparation to support Investor and other Corporate initiatives as required

We are looking for someone with:

  • Scientific Bachelor’s degree required. Additional Scientific/Business/Economics qualifications advantageous
  • 5+ years of healthcare/pharma industry experience; consulting or corporate strategy/business development experience preferred
  • Robust understanding of both the science and business aspects of the pharma industry
  • A desire to work at the interface of AI and Drug Discovery and Development
  • Prior out-licensing experience in a Drug Discovery and Development environment preferred
  • Strong analytical background required together with Excel forecasting and financial modelling skills, with business development and partnership experience preferred
  • A driven and flexible self-starter who can prioritise a rich and interesting workload
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage senior-level stakeholders across multiple teams
