DiDi ANZ – Tax Manager


General Descriptions

DiDi Australia is looking for a Tax Manager, covering all tax related matters in relation to our business in Australia and New Zealand.

This position will directly report to the DiDi International Tax Lead in Beijing, and indirectly report to the Australia Finance Controller in Melbourne. The role is in charge of tax planning, tax compliance, tax dispute resolution, tax authority relationship management, and consultation for business needs. This is an individual contributor role.

Candidate is expected to station in Melbourne, who possesses the rights to abode-and-work in Australia. Proficiency in both Chinese and English is mandatory.


Job Descriptions

  1. Act as the tax subject officer in Australia Business, to provide professional advice on all tax-related subject matters and queries
  2. Support queries from cross-functions including but not limited to Accounting, Procurement, Legal, Operations, and Product Development, by delivering quantitative analysis
  3. Collaborate with Business and Product team to alert potential tax impacts on existing / new business initiatives; Propose solution or workarounds
  4. Solid technical knowledge on Australia and New Zealand tax regime, including but not limited to CIT, FBT, GST, WHT, and State-level Levy
  5. Hands-on experience on preparing AU BAS filings independently
  6. Liaison with external tax consultants on managing projects deliverables, and consultancy fee
  7. Experience on dealing with queries from ATO and NZ IRD; Handle and manage tax inspection / audits / reviews raised by authorities appropriately
  8. Be able to communicate precisely risk factors or development in ANZ operations to the International Tax Lead from Beijing HQ
  9. Participate in Global Tax Planning projects initiated by Beijing HQ
  10. Monitor evolving tax environment by alerting HQ of changes on local tax legislations in ANZ region
  11. Keep proper tax technical updates and provide education to relevant stakeholders as appropriate



  1. Bachelor degree or above
  2. More than 5 years of Australia and/or New Zealand tax work experience with strong tax technical knowledge as well as strong implementation ability
  3. Result oriented, strong sense of ownership
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all level of staff, with cross-functional teams, upper management, and external consultants
  5. Work experience in Big 4 and share good relationship with ATO and/or NZ IRD will be a plus
  6. CPA and / or credentials in legal profession (e.g. LLB, JD, PCLL) is a strong plus


Other Requirements

  1. Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time independently under conditions of uncertainty, ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  2. Demonstrated integrity and professionalism
  3. Occasional travel between China and Australia, and among cities in ANZ region, is expected
  4. Proficiency on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must
