Title: Tax Manager
Reports to: Sr. Tax Director

The Tax Manager’s primary responsibility is to assume overall ownership of all tasks and projects related to Guidewire’s Transfer Pricing arrangements. Overall ownership includes effective project management and starts with the planning phase and ends with the delivery of a quality end product. In this role, this person will also have the opportunity to learn other areas of corporate tax, including but not limited to international income tax, US & state & local income tax, indirect taxes, R&D tax credits and ASC 740 (accounting for income taxes).

Tax Manager will be heavily involved in assisting in the development, coordination and implementation of overall tax compliance, tax accounting and tax law analysis for Guidewire. The Tax Manger’s responsibilities are fulfilled through individual contributions, third party consultants, collaboration with colleagues, and guidance from the Sr. Tax Director and Tax Director.


Position Description Guidewire Software is looking for a dynamic Tax Manager to join our growing tax team. In your important role as Tax Manager you will be responsible or assist in the following:

• Managing the completion of all annual multi-jurisdictional transfer pricing studies.
• Developing and improving the Company’s transfer pricing process.
• Updating and the drafting of new Intercompany Agreements.
• Preparing Country by Country reporting documentation.
• Assisting in the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision.
• Assisting in the preparation of the US, California and Canadian R&D tax credit studies prepared by third party consultants
• Assisting in review of the Company’s state and local sales/use tax returns including Canadian indirect tax returns.
• Working with the Sr. Tax Director and Tax Director in matters related to Transfer Pricing and participate in tax planning activities.
• Interacting with HR, IT, Payroll, tax authorities/auditors, and outside consultants.
• Managing and training the tax intern.

Customer & Industry Knowledge

• Knowledge of conceptual and computational aspects of transfer pricing
• Ability & willingness to learn other areas of tax, including but not limited to R&D tax credits, ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes), state sales & use tax, U.S and international tax and tax planning
• 8+ Years of related corporate tax experience with public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department

Education/Training
• BS/BA degree in Accounting /Business or related field;
• CPA preferred
