Tax Operations (contract)

Payroll Tax Operations is at the core of our business and our spectacular team is a key stakeholder in company decisions and operations. No egos here — we collaborate and help each other out in a positive environment. We are seeking folks with a passion for operations, a knack for details, and the ability to be an advocate for our customers’ compliance. 

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Primary responsibility: Draft and file tax return amendments and manual original tax returns for customers who make changes to their payroll in prior quarters / years
  • Sort and organize tax notices that we receive in the mail and help identify high priority actions for the team to take
  • Work on the client’s behalf to register them with the appropriate state tax agencies (state enrollments)
  • Help with any other needs of the team associated with the filing and payments of taxes, including merging paper checks and tax returns, data entry, error checking, etc.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years experience with administrative work
  • 1+ year of payroll administration experience (strongly preferred)
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized, will never let something slip through the cracks (must have)
  • Quick learner of new concepts and processes (must have)  
  • Strong resourcefulness (must have)
  • Strong written communication skills (will need to communicate with customers)
  • Customer-first, service-oriented mindset
  • Helpful and enthusiastic, willing to do whatever is needed at the moment
  • Process-driven, with the ability to step back and think about scalable solutions (nice-to-have)
