The Role 

Following the announcement of the Group’s intention to list on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, we are seeking an experienced individual for a new role of Technical Accounting Manager.  You will report directly to the Head of External Reporting and oversee various technical accounting needs for the Group. You should have a strong technical and financial reporting background and be comfortable navigating through complex accounting matters to support our business model.

The group is headquartered in Central London, and this role will be based out of the London office and will require a high level of interaction with the wider finance team, commercial team and with third parties as necessary.

Main Responsibilities 

This is a great opportunity to help steer and oversee various technical accounting needs across our business, and for the right candidate we envisage there will be flexibility to shape and grow the role over time. Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:   

  • Ensure we have complied with all accounting requirements under US GAAP and IFRS
  • Perform technical research and consult with management and the external auditors/advisors to ensure that proper accounting treatment is applied and documented for a variety of complex and non-standard transactions, including  all revenue transactions, including unusual and non-recurring transactions, mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings and general accounting matters
  • Consider implication of new accounting pronouncements on our current policy and standards and provide support on the adoption of such standards
  • Work in partnership with commercial teams to ensure a deep understanding of our business activities and results and provide support and guidance for potential new business models and revenue streams
  • Help establish, develop and maintain the Group’s accounting policies and procedures company wide and support multiple subsidiary financial reporting needs
  • Provide training to accounting, finance, and business teams on new and existing accounting standards, as relevant
  • Work closely with the financial planning team to develop and present GAAP forecasts
  • Support SEC filings including the quarterly and annual reporting

Required Skills 

We would expect to see demonstrable experience of the following: 

  • Qualified Accountant (Chartered or CPA equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum experience of 5 years with one of the Big 4 accounting firms and/or commercial experience at the manager level with a strong track record of technical accounting and research
  • Strong US GAAP and accounting skills required, most notably in revenue recognition (ASC 606), with the ability to convert technical research, interpretation into a practical solution
  • IFRS experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills and ability to work with complex models
  • Team player with experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to effectively drive results
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks

Desirable Skills 

  • Experience working in the Tech industry (SaaS companies) an advantage but not essential
  • Knowledge of SEC regulations & requirements
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and internal control frameworks
