Shift: 42 hour contract with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern including days, nights and weekends. Our day shifts start at 05:45 - 17:45 and our night shifts starts at 18:00 - 06:00.

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and career driven Technical Assistant to join our engineering team at our Customer Fulfilment Centre in Hatfield (AL10 9BD). As a Technical Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting the operation at our automated Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) to optimise availability and performance of the facility, and its MHE automation. You will also complete technical cleaning of the equipment whilst ensuring that it does not adversely affect its performance.
At full capacity we fulfil over 150,000 customer orders a week which requires 24/7 operation and a dedicated engineering team. This role is shift based to support the 24/7 operation of the CFC and is designed to be a role where potential Technicians can be identified and developed technically within the Engineering team.
Responding promptly to all faults within your designated areas and undertaking preventative maintenance checks with the aim of reducing jams and faults, you will also be expected to use computerised systems to complete jam reports and maintenance logs. Ensuring an excellent approach to all activities and site standards are maintained and driven by yourself, you will work safely at all times and highlight all H&S issues to your Line Management.
In order to be up for the challenge you will need to have good working knowledge of automated warehouses and their technical components with a comprehensive understanding of production, picking and storage MHE systems gained from experience in an automated environment. Good communication is essential as you will be required to communicate all issues clearly and escalate in a timely manner. The ability to form good working relationships on an individual and a team basis is essential as you will be required to build and maintain a strong working relationship with key operational customers, and all other support function managers including HR, Projects and Services. Experience of working within an engineering environment would be desirable however there are no formal engineering qualifications required for this role.
This role requires physical activity e.g. lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects.
