UI/UX Designer

Kitchener, Canada

The User Experience Designer takes direction from client services and creative teams in planning, testing and advancing the user experience across Weedmaps properties and external projects. The UEA ensures the user experience adheres to industry best practices and client standards. Be skilled at selling and defending work while professionally responding to feedback. Must thrive in a highly collaborative and iterative product environment. This is a full-time position located in Irvine, CA.


  • Collaborate with Growth/Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Creative and other stakeholders on the design, development, and integration of highly interactive and reusable UI/UX designs and prototypes
  • Create logical information architectures and concepts
  • Design and lead usability and user interface a/b/n testing and refine designs based on outcomes
  • As needed, initiate and manage user experience research and testing processes; Perform
  • analysis to inform design/UX optimization efforts and document/share learnings
  • Draw from data, using quantitative analytics and user research to guide your design solutions
  • Create wireframes, site maps, workflows, personas, feature lists, mockups, business rules,
  • working prototypes and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
  • Help design and conduct stakeholder interviews and user testing sessions and present findings and recommendations


  • B.A./B.S. degree preferred
  • Relevant or transferable experience in a lean startup environment
  • Understanding of best practices for creating a best in class user experience with user interface
  • design processes and methodology
  • Experience in the development of dynamic websites, intranets, web-based application from a
  • user experience perspective
  • General knowledge of industry specific software. Visio, Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, Omnigraffle
  • or similar prototyping tools
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability; able to manage shifting priorities as projects evolve
  • Understanding of and passion for the digital space
  • Experience participating in agile development environment(s)
