User Experience Designer III - US

Primary responsibility is to lead the design new and existing customer facing Control Panel’s that support the Rackspace Application Services portfolio and Rackspace brand.
This includes building new features for the existing Rackspace Microsoft 365 Control Panel, as well as building new platforms in support of additional business units.
This position acts as the user experience designer and user advocate, leveraging an iterative and data-driven user-centered design process to create compelling designs which balance customers’ needs with business goals and requirements.
This position is responsible for all stages of design, starting with early engagement with the Product Manager to understand and shape the high-level product strategy and ending with pixel-perfect annotated design comps delivered to the software engineering team, which are a result of iterative changes driven from usability findings from a tested prototype(s).
Works closely with stakeholders ranging from front-line support to senior level leadership in order to translate business goals into usable solutions.
Communicates design ideas using concept sketches, wireframes, and prototypes highlighting design rationale informed by best practices, competitor analysis, user research, and usability testing.
Leads and executes research and analysis according to strategic and tactical priorities.
Collaborates with the central Rackspace design team as needed when a design challenge requires a component or interaction not currently available within the design system, assisting with necessary research, ideation, design, and testing of proposed components and interactions.
This position requires exceptional leadership, relationship and consensus building skills (both up and down the chain of command), and a proven ability to think strategically in a highly dynamic environment.
A driven self-starter obsessed with scalability and a capable problem solver.
In addition to be being a driver of UX vision and an advocate for UX principles, this role will be hands-on in bringing the vision to life.

Highly creative with an understanding of web development and user interaction/interface design. Advanced knowledge of design, prototyping, and collaboration tools (e.g., Sketch, Invision, Mural, JIRA).
Advanced creativity, interaction design, and problem solving ability. Ability to communicate one's ideas through their design.
Proven track record and passion for compelling design.
Excellent presentation skills & and attention to detail. Team player.
Ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements and translate them into design and development projects.
Adapt quickly and amicably to changes in project scope.
Able to work collaboratively with multiple project teams, to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communications skill.
Advanced understanding of design elements used to create effective visual communications.
Solid working knowledge of standard web design practices.
Advanced understanding and experience with web development, information architecture, and user interaction/interface design.

Designs the customer-centric vision, strategy, and execution of the user experience design for the Office 365 at Rackspace Control Panel.
Works closely with product management, technical product management, software engineering, support, marketing, brand, sales, and strategy to align the user experience with target customer needs, and business goals and objectives.
Defines and manages the user research plan and incorporate findings into the design process.
Synthesizes quantitative metrics (analytics, license sales) with qualitative findings (e.g., feedback from customer interviews) to provide iterative design improvements, ensuring usability considerations are part of all design decisions.
Contributes to thought leadership for information architecture, interaction design, visual design, user experience best practices, user research, and online user behavior.
Fosters a creative, positive, efficient, and collaborative team working environment.
Collaborates with a group of talented UX designers, visual designers, and user researchers.
Works with Product teams to translate business, marketing, and technical goals into the best solutions for our business using online data, usability findings and market research.
Drives the design process from conceptualization through detailed user interface and functionality design, usability review, and implementation.
Designs concept sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate design strategies and interaction behaviors.
Plans/executes usability tests, document findings, and delivers research-backed concepts to teams for development.
Works with development teams to make sure that the workflow reflects our customer's needs and ensures consistency among projects.
Develops expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team.
Defines innovative user interfaces and interaction styles which result in improved user experience.
Participates in all phases of the product development life cycle.
Evangelizes improved design for a superior user experience throughout the organization.
Participates in the development of marketing and recruiting campaigns, as well as internal collateral to support our cultural initiatives
Little instruction on daily work, general instruction on new assignments

High school diploma or equivalent required.
BS/BA in Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Human Factors or other relevant field.
4+ years of experience in web application design, product design, interaction design or related field required.
2+ years of experience as a lead designer required.
2+ years of user research and usability/prototype testing required.
