Visual / Interface Designer, Transit

Intersection is looking for a graphic designer to work on visual and interface design for transit-related products. This includes kiosks, interactive ad campaigns, mobile applications, management interfaces, data visualization, and public broadcast displays. This role will focus on turning concepts into polished visual design, with an understanding of project challenges, human insights and interactions.

Key Requirements

  • An excellent on-line portfolio showcasing user interface and visual design work for desktop and touch devices. 
  • 4+ years of professional experience helping shape product challenges, human needs and technical constraints into impactful concepts and visual direction 
  • A mastery of how visual design can enhance or detract from interaction and information presentation. Balancing usability with desirability—using color, style, type, icons, information design, and visual hierarchy to clarify data, indicate relationships, hint at behavior, and communicate about brand. 
  • Ability to understand strategic insights and translate into design decisions. 
  • Ability to distinguish between “good” and “great” work and be able to articulate the difference. 
  • Ability to convey concepts through sketches, renderings, style guides and visual specifications. 
  • Be comfortable and humbled with trial and error; you should have experience prototyping, testing and experimenting at different levels of fidelity. 
  • Have experience with assorted interfaces (i.e. tablet, mobile, desktop, etc). 
  • Have experience with Google Materials Design and Apple HIG . 
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills 
  • Expertise with popular design and prototyping tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, or similar) 
  • The ability to partner with product managers, business leads, engineering, QA and support teams.


  • Bachelor’s or higher in Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience with proven results
