About the role:

We are looking for a VP, Insurance Portfolio Development in our New York office who will be responsible for managing the end-to-end development of the insurance product portfolio for all our insurance companies.  As the VP of Insurance Portfolio Development, you understand Oscar’s vision and business goals, the health insurance and health tech industry, the emerging trends, and the importance and best-practice of insurance rules and regulations. In addition, the VP will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of insurance product developments in alignment with Oscar’s vision and long term strategy, building out core functions and staff, and driving cross-functional innovations and opportunities. 

You will report to the SVP of Commercial Finance. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development and innovation of Oscar’s new and existing health and wellness products and service offerings for Oscar’s insurance programs to provide best-in-class innovative, affordable, accessible care 

    • Oversee insurance plan design, benefit design, coverage and cost-sharing strategy, and pricing teams focusing on speed to market and quality

    • Identify new opportunities or enhancements to existing products and benefit designs, and product bundles based on rules, regulations, market trends, evolving needs of current and potential new customers

  • Support innovation and new program initiatives with new or redesign of current insurance product portfolio 

    • Lead new insurance product development efforts, working closely with Oscar stakeholders and cross-functional teams (across insurance, legal and technology) to continue to reshape insurance product portfolio 

    • Closely engage in the development of business and digital strategy for Oscar’s existing and new markets

  • Lead the robust capacity building and continuous improvements 

    • Generate data-driven insights of insurance product performance and outcomes, connect strategy across network, sales, data and tech, operations to make recommendations for program improvements

    • Continue built and enhance core capacity while formalize and streamline operational processes and integrations to enable scaling

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or graduate degree required; 

  • 10+ years of professional experience in the insurance industry, and a strong leadership and business relationship skills to build trust and respect 

  • Has built and managed growing insurance product development related teams in a fast-moving, complicated environment

  • Results oriented, capable of navigating ambiguity, distilling analyses into actionable business insights with seasoned judgment and experience, and clearly translating strategic objectives into implementable processes that drive outcomes

  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves to understand details, grow with the teams, and get the job done

  • Strong collaboration skills to ensure effective alignment among diverse teams

  • Excellent financial and organizational systems acumen; practical experience in insurance product development, pricing, data-driven decision making strongly preferred

  • Executive presence and ability to communicate with, influence, and manage stakeholders, including C-level executives
