THE OPPORTUNITY
Contract-to-Hire Position
BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of experience in a hands-on technical leadership role; demonstrated success in leading onshore and offshore technical teams and establishing architecture and coding practices
Experience designing and developing cloud-native, scalable, and highly available distributed systems; experience with modern design patterns such as microservices, events, single page applications, use of container technologies, etc.
Strong experience developing high volume data systems and pipelines, including data orchestration frameworks. Some ML experience is a plus.
Experience with configuration management using continuous integration and continuous deployment processes; familiarity with DevOps best practices for cloud deployment, metrics driven development, and incident handling.
Understanding of current security best practices and their place in the SDLC.
Experience with processing music and media metadata and file formats, e.g., DDEX, CWR, a significant plus.
Interest in music and/or the music business preferred.
Our client is looking for a VP of Engineering.
In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing their development team to deliver high quality products and services. You will be expected to leverage best practices and developments in data systems, algorithms, models and big data techniques to build offerings that are best in class. The role reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Candidates are preferred to be based in the eastern United States. Our client's employees are permitted to work remotely, with occasional travel expected as necessary due to business reasons.
Provide leadership of cross-functional onshore and offshore teams (including development staff, QA and DevOps) in the technical design and implementation of all products, services and systems.
Hands-on architectural ownership; conduct regular design & code reviews with team members and write code as necessary
Work closely with the product team and company leadership to formulate and execute against their product roadmap; define and decompose requirements into manageable user stories and tasks for the development team.
Develop and estimate technical project plans and timelines and set appropriate expectations with the business.
Establish and implement SDLC best practices including coding standards, development process, and testing; ensure a consistent architecture and technical approach is utilized across components and systems.
Develop and manage a streamlined and reliable CI/CD pipeline; engage with DevOps personnel to ensure scalability and availability are up to standards via monitoring/alerting, auto-scaling, and infrastructure-as-code practices are followed.
Define and adhere to strict standards for software accessibility, security, and performance.
Provide leadership and guidance in technical and process related matters to the development team as well as the broader organization.
Lead the evaluation, proof of concept creation, and selection of new technologies and processes to improve their products and services; explore and recommend integrations with third-party software solutions or products where appropriate.
Provide regular transparency of ongoing development progress or challenges to the broader organization.
Identify, hire, and mentor new members of the technical team.
