About the Role
Salsify is creating a new, large category: Commerce Experience Management. You will play a pivotal role defining the product category and growing Salsify to a $1B+ ARR SaaS company.
Salsify's CommerceXM platform is an ambitious strategy with annual R&D of over $30M for 2021. CommerceXM deeply integrates a set of core functionality from a broad set of existing product categories -- PIM, DAM, CMS, ETL, OMS, syndication, etc. -- going deep into many specific areas, subsuming entire categories, such as PIM.
How do we define the product category of CommerceXM, including how it relates to the rest of the evolving cloud-based, modern enterprise architecture stack? How do we position our role in each of the existing categories that we touch as we compare to pure plays? In close partnership with product, help the industry understand where we sit in relation to the myriad other technologies manufacturers are using on the digital shelf today. What should our partner strategy be for complementary technology? Why would agencies bet $10M+ projects on Salsify as a keystone? How does the positioning evolve in EMEA, APAC, or in Food & Bev vs. DIY? How can our category make everyone in the Digital Shelf community successful, including SIs, agencies, retailers, and tech partners?
The VP owns answering these questions and many more. More than simply answering the questions, the VP also must build and lead a team that operationalizes the answers to them, empowering the whole company and industry.
You'll enjoy this role if you have:
- Substantial experience in SaaS enterprise software -- we have a consultative and not "transactional" sales motion
- Lead a global product marketing and/or solution marketing function in a $100M+ ARR SaaS company, particularly for a "system of record and workflow" platform
- Product passion. We're a product-centric company with a large product vision, and need a marketer that loves getting into the details for our customers, since the details matter
- Participated in category creation in SaaS, or worked for a category leader
- A track record of proactively defining what success looks like for your role and the rest of the company and then driving it -- we do not wait to be told what to do at Salsify
- Experience managing to outcomes, not projects
- Enjoyed, and still enjoy, rolling up your sleeves and building a pivotal function from nearly the ground up -- we lead by example in Marketing at Salsify
