WANTED: JUNIOR ART DIRECTOR on…dun, dun, dun…THE CLIENT SIDE

a.k.a. The Dark Side…
a.k.a. You’re Doing What?!?-Side…
Before you give us the “Thanks, but no thanks” spiel, let us explain.

The winds are changin’. Brands such as Uber, Dollar Shave Club and Warby Parker are attracting some of the best thinkers and problem-solvers from the world of advertising. No longer do you have to go from agency to agency trying to find the right fit, or feel like a cog in the machine.

We’re looking for stellar thinkers to join us and create big ideas that will affect the behavior of our entire company and the relationship we have with our customers.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR….

A Junior Art Director with an insatiable curiosity to holistically, strategically and creatively think up ideas and make them happen. You will work closely with your Creative Director, an industry veteran, to produce a bevy of different kinds of visual concepts, both online and offline. Even though this position is junior level, you will find yourself rapidly learning and producing work that will make you proud and your friends jealous.

Passion and hard work is a must. You also have to have crazy, good design skills and understand what it takes to make something great. Knowledge of Adobe CS is critical, as is the ability to visually convey your team’s ideas.

ABOUT CARVANA….

We sell cars, but we’re not car salespeople. We saw a huge problem with how sucky it can be to buy a car and our mission is to unsuck car buying, every step of the way. We don’t see ourselves as an innovation company. However, in the interest of making car buying better, we create technologies that have never been created.

We have big hearts and big dreams. Forbes recently named us as one of the top 5 most promising companies in America, but we want to be number one.

We’re not a big, bloated company with layers of people, all afraid to say “yes.”  You have a voice in the direction we’re headed and we like to think that’s pretty powerful.

SPECIFICALLY, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE….

  • Partner with a copywriter to conceptually think through business problems and develop strategically-minded ideas and solve them through design
  • Ability to create designs and layouts consistent with Carvana’s brand and style in the areas of branding, advertising and creative ideation in multiple mediums (TV, short film, digital, social, mobile and print). It will be necessary too to consistently bring a fresh design perspective to each of your assignments.
  • Edit and proof content during all phases of projects
  • Everything it takes to create ideas that get talked about [not sure I understand this portion]
  • Consistently generate new ideas from a strategic brief that’s appropriate for all outlets

THE QUALIFYING CANDIDATE MUST HAVE….

  • A graduate degree in fine arts, visual communication, digital media or related field
  • 1-3 years proven art direction experience working with and creating content for multiple mediums – TV, short film, digital, social, mobile and print
  • Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Ability to organize and synthesize information from multiple sources, and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize/re-prioritize multiple projects and/or deadlines in a fast-paced and constantly shifting work environment
  • Possess the zest, zeal (that’s right, zest and zeal) and energy to contribute to and thrive in a rapidly growing start-up atmosphere where roles continually adapt as the company evolves
  • Ability and desire to have all their ideas killed and know there are still plenty of better ideas to create
  • Hiring is contingent on candidate verifying their eligibility to work in the United States and passing a complete background check

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN RETURN….

  • Full-time salary position
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401K with company match
  • Access to opportunities to expand your skill set and share your knowledge with others across the organization
  • Company culture of promotions from within, with a start-up atmosphere allowing for varied and rapid career development

Carvana is an equal opportunity employer.
