Within Ocado Group sits Platform Implementation, whose mission is ‘to orchestrate the implementation of Ocado’s platforms globally’. This department focuses on the full programme management life cycle of the implementation of our Ocado Smart Platform, including highly automated, multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) & related software - from pre-deal, through to the design, construction, installation, testing and ‘go-live’ phases (with all the process and portfolio management in between). This department is instrumental in ensuring we deliver these solutions on time, to budget, and to the specific requirements of each client.

The Workforce Planning Manager (Workforce Planning and Development Manager) is a new position within the Programme Management team, created due to our rapid company growth to support the end-to-end delivery of the Ocado Smart Platform to international clients, by effective management of centralised Project Management resources. This will include resource allocation, career management/development/training, recruitment and forecasting.

This role is based at our Head Office in Hatfield (UK/international travel may be required)

What will you be doing?

• Resource Allocation and Utilisation:  
  • Allocating resources with the right skills and experience to projects, working with Programme Managers and Project Managers to support the completion of projects within defined scope and timeframes
  • Managing individual transitions between projects; working with individuals, Programme Managers and Heads of Regions to determine the most optimum resource allocations
  • Developing analytics to determine the optimal resourcing profile by project and role type
• Career Management:
  • Providing career level line management for all centralised project resources; focusing on career development and training, performance management (including pay reviews)  as well as long term engagement and retention within the team 
  • Managing the process for collection of project feedback for centralised project resources
  • Developing and running the talent review process (quarterly and annually) feeding into long term succession planning for Programme Management
  • Developing and maintaining the induction process for new starters
• Recruitment: 
  • Working with the Programme Management senior leadership team to understand the long term programme /regional recruitment requirements
  • Liaising with relevant Recruitment teams to ensure that Programme Management recruitment requirements are understood and met 
  • Managing the internal recruitment and interview process within Programme Management
• Forecasting: 
  • Forecasting current and future headcount requirements for annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes
  • Working with all teams with Platform Implementation to understand impact of programme timelines and future sales on resource forecasts 
  • Working with the PMO team to ensure that Programme resource forecasting data used in governance and portfolio processes is accurate

• Ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Excellent communicator able to distill complex messages and land them
• Commercial acumen and understanding how to optimise competing priorities within a resource constrained environment   
• Degree or relevant qualification - 2:1 (or above)
