Accounting Manager, Controllership
TLDR
Lead vendor funding accounting and month-end close, driving controls and cross-functional collaboration under US GAAP.
- Lead the accounting and reporting activities related to vendor funding programs, ensuring accuracy across promotions, discounts, and inventory-related financial adjustments while maintaining US GAAP compliance.
- Oversee month-end close processes, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and preparation of financial reporting deliverables.
- Ensure robust financial controls by designing, implementing, and maintaining SOX and non-SOX processes aligned with internal policies and audit requirements.
- Manage team performance and resources, supporting deadlines while building a high-performing controllership function through coaching, development, and performance management.
- Partner with cross-functional and international stakeholders to provide accounting guidance on business initiatives and evolving operational needs.
- Support financial reporting requirements, ad-hoc analysis, and technical accounting research to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Lead and contribute to strategic and operational projects aimed at improving financial processes, systems, and controls.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within mid-to-large organizations, including strong exposure to complex financial environments.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams and developing talent.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of US GAAP.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience handling large and complex datasets.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization.
- Experience with ERP systems, BI tools, and advanced MS Office applications.
- Retail or vendor funding experience is considered an asset.

- Competitive annual salary range of $115,000 – $130,000 CAD, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus (12%–24%).
