YOUR MISSION

We are looking for you as our Additive Manufacturing Engineer (m/f/d) in full-time to strengthen the Isar Aerospace team in Munich.

You will be responsible for developing metal additive manufacturing process applications in collaboration with design and engineering teams for unique space and aerospace applications. You will use your skills to drive product development and manufacturing with the use of additive manufacturing technologies. You should possess solid experience in metal additive manufacturing technologies, product design, industrial manufacturing methods, 3D modelling, GD&T and post-processing.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate to develop procedures for process parameter optimization, and material property optimization studies
  • Propose and execute R&D projects with the goal of developing additive manufactured processes and applications
  • Support designers on additive manufacturing techniques to break away from conventional manufacturing rules, provide DFAM direction and feedback through design reviews
  • Lead the creation and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for equipment and processes
  • Work directly with Equipment suppliers, technicians, and the manufacturing team, to help oversee part pre-processing, manufacturing, and post-processing
  • Support qualification of AM materials, equipment, and processes and develop and provide requirements for material-handling operations
  • Support efforts to increase quality objectives, and productivity, through methodical and regular continuous improvement efforts
  • Develop and optimize support structures and process parameters for metal additive manufactured parts

Requirements

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU HAVE

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering or another engineering field
  • At least 2 years of experience in Additive Manufacturing, Process Engineering Product Design, or Engineering related field
  • Professional experience in material qualification and Proficiency in CAD and 3D Modelling (Solidworks, Inventor etc.)
  • Proficiency in additive manufacturing software (3DXpert, Materialise Magics, etc). Job preparation experience with EOS metal printers for production, via working very closely with planning
  • Leading all short-term and long-term maintenance activities for EOS and AMCM equipment with the suppliers or third parties
  • Experience with post-processing such as Vacuum Heat Treatment, de-powdering, EDM, CNC machining, and surface treatment of AM manufactured parts
  • Experience with simulation-based process preparation software for metal printing and in-process monitoring
  • High standard of written and spoken English, German is a plus
