Purpose of Role

Working as a key member of the Actis Energy team and based in Singapore, this person will support the team on Actis' SEA investments. The candidate will be working on screening of new investment ideas / strategies, and preliminary / final investment reviews of prospective investment opportunities for the fund. The candidate will also meet and engage actively with project developers, project partners, financial institutions and consultants on matters related to the financial performance of projects and investments as well as assisting a deal leader in all aspects of transaction origination, diligence, execution and asset management.
 
Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)

Working within an investment team to ensure the greatest impact on value for Actis and its’ investors. Assignments include:
     Create financial models to evaluate new investment opportunities
     Carry out market research through review of third party research reports, analyze market trends by conducting primary research and visiting competing projects/ assets. Actively contribute to sector initiatives, become knowledge resource for sector insights and expertise.
     Conduct due diligence in support of transactions under the direction of the senior investment team members.
     Prepare screening memos, investment committee memos for new investments and exits.
     Review legal contracts including financing / investment documentation thoroughly, identify areas of transaction risk and potential mitigation strategies, as part of the deal team.
     Assist the team in all matters related to the deal closing, including deal documentation, finance documentation and structuring.
 
Portfolio   Management
     Support business planning with the management teams, sponsors and operating partners for assets in the portfolio, actively review the business plans on an annual and quarterly basis.
     Proactively work with the management teams, sponsors and operating partners to identify risks ahead and come up with mitigation strategies.
     Assist the investment manager with portfolio/asset management of assigned project(s), including initiatives such as debt financing, operational improvement initiatives, management recruitment, and exit planning
     Prepare quarterly investment reports and valuation reports for projects for review of investment manager
 
Other
     Work in partnership with global specialists (e.g. Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) and sector teams
     Additional responsibilities include participation in Actis wide projects or initiatives.

Skills/Competencies:
     Strong analytical skills, including financial modelling and valuation.
     Expertise in financial statement analysis, cash flow projections and valuations.
     Highly organised and focused.
     Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple projects at a time.
     Excellent research, writing and communication skills.
     Collaborate effectively with others, including senior managers and external parties.
     Analytical and numeric thinking capability.

Knowledge and Qualifications:
Candidates selected for interviews should meet the following criteria;
−    Experience in Private Equity or Investment Banking an advantage.
     Fluent/Business Proficiency in SEA language an advantage.
