Approved Driving Instructor

We are currently looking for a trainer to be part of our Service Delivery Training and Development Team. The successful candidate will be based in West Drayton with travel to various locations and must be a current DVSA ADI. Working hours will be Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm with very occasional weekend work.
Reporting into the Region Manager, you will be an experienced ADI with a proven ability in but not limited to carrying out assessments of full licence holders and identifying areas requiring further development to improve both safety and driving skills.

What will you be doing?
- Delivering a wide range of classroom training including: customer service, manual handling, safe systems of work and other associated workshops
- Delivering practical and theory based driver training in both classroom and on-road environments to promote the benefits of a positive driver attitude to reduce road risk
- Writing accurate reports, both verbal and written and give honest feedback
- Delivering a wide range of training and development including: customer service, manual handling, safe systems of work and other associated workshops
- Provide practical and theory based driver training and development to enhance individual risk awareness and driving skills, and promote the benefits of a positive driver attitude to reduce driver risk.
- Conducting risk assessments of potential drivers and the re-assessment of existing drivers to ensure their driving competency and suitability for their particular driving duties. Provide information on trainee performance and driving development needs.
- Assisting in the development of new initiatives for all aspects of driver training, road/driver safety and driver assessments.
- Completing all training reports and assessment summaries promptly and to a high standard. Develop a good working knowledge of the Quality Assurance process including course evaluation to enable the team to meet all objectives.
About you
- Full, clean current driving licence
- Be flexible and able to work in remote locations
- Driving Vehicle Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor
- Experience in the provision of light commercial vehicle driver coaching and development
- Proven ability in carrying out assessments of full licence holders and identifying areas requiring further development to improve both safety and driving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a specialist team
- Good knowledge of basic IT skills
- Full knowledge of relevant traffic regulations and codes of practice
- Knowledge of effective design/presentation skills
- Demonstrable skills in controlling and communicating with candidates
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to motivate the timid and firmly control the strong willed in the classroom and during in-car training to ensure complete safety at all times
- Able to give meaningful, honest feedback to enable all candidates to be aware of their progress and their shortcomings.
- Sound knowledge of current vehicle technology and basic maintenance
