Automation Engineer (2nd shift - manufacturing experience required)

Job Summary
The Automation Engineer designs, develops, and implements automated systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity in manufacturing or business operations. This role involves working with control systems, robotics, software, and data systems to reduce manual intervention and optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automated systems and processes
- Program and troubleshoot PLC’s (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI’s
- Develop and maintain control systems, including SCADA and DCS
- Identify opportunities for automation to improve productivity and reduce costs
- Support commissioning, installation, and testing of equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production)
- Ensure systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Document automation processes, system configuration, and procedures
- Analyze system performance data and implement continuous improvement
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or related field)
- 3+ years of related professional experience
- Experience with control systems, automation systems, and robotics
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and industrial communication protocols
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Preferred:
- Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Yaskawa, etc.)
- Knowledge of industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, and data analytics
- Experience with vision systems and machine learning applications
- Lean manufacturing and six sigma knowledge
- Project management experience
- Experience with modeling or electrical print software (e.g. CAD, Solid Works, Creo)
