Automation Engineer for Hamilton Liquid Handlers - Molecular Biology and Microbiology

Viome is a therapeutics company that analyzes clinical and molecular data using machine learning to develop better diagnostic and therapeutic avenues for chronic diseases, cancer, and aging. We are an interdisciplinary and passionate team of experts in biochemistry, microbiology, medicine, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

We are looking for an Automation Engineer that will help with product development. This will include developing new and improving existing methods on our Hamilton liquid handlers.

The position is in Bothell, WA. This is a quiet, suburban area, 20 miles northeast of Seattle, where quality of life and cost of living are far better than in Seattle. This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the R&D automation on Hamilton liquid handlers
  • Develop methods for new laboratory tests that support new products or clinical research
  • Improve the efficiency of the current automated tests
  • Help train other automation engineers
  • Perform IQ/OQ/PQ and maintenance on the R&D instruments
  • Maintain at least CLIA standards for all work
  • Troubleshoot critical equipment and processes.
  • Work in the molecular biology and microbiology lab as a research associate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or engineering
  • Experience developing laboratory automation methods
  • Experience in molecular biology and microbiology, especially NGS
  • Can communicate effectively
  • Can work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
