Overview of Role

66degrees is seeking a senior contractor to engage on a 5-week remote assignment for approximately 40 hours per week with potential to extend. Interested candidates should have the following required skills in Golang and be available to start on the assignment at the end of May.

This contractor will be working on a CockroachDB to Spanner Migration project, inclusive of application development for additional data connections and configuring/migrating the data to Google Cloud Spanner.

Requirements

• Ability to work UK Hours (morning overlap with US timezone), 40 hours a week for a 5-week contract without disruption. 
  • 5-8 years of experience in developing cloud-native applications
  • 5 years of recent and hands-on Golang Experience 
  • Cloud experience is required (GCP/ AWS/ Azure); Recent experience with GCP is preferred and considered precedent however not a disqualifier
• Proven ability to write Unit tests, uncover and fix bugs, crashes, and other issues, in order to ensure a robust app
• Experience working in a highly automated agile environment where changes are pushed
• Familiar with the scrum process and Git
• Strong communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with CockroachDB and Spanner is ideal however not required
• Experience with Gorilla/Mux
