Capital Markets Lead, Capital Products

Architect and build a diversified capital markets platform for Stripe Capital that will support our current and future debt products

One third of Americans bought something on Stripe in the last year. With all this data, we are in a position to solve our user’s capital needs and fuel their growth. 

We’re looking for a creative, smart, and driven individual to build our Capital Markets team. Stripe Capital Markets is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing strategy for funding our loans and other financial products. This role will work closely with all aspects of Stripe Capital and Stripe’s finance / treasury functions to design and continue to refine our capital markets strategy.  Candidates should have experience architecting and managing financing transactions, working with alternative lenders, and a strong understanding of various debt funding strategies. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong technical and interpersonal skills combined with the desire to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

You will

• Architect and implement the Stripe Capital financing strategy
• Recruit and develop the capital markets team
• Own deal processes from start to finish, including structuring, negotiation, documentation, and execution
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product, Revenue, and Credit/Risk teams to drive Capital Markets initiatives
• Build and manage relationships with existing and potential investors

You'd ideally have

• 8+ years of exposure to debt capital markets at an ABS issuer (including online lending platforms), an investment bank (FIG/Fintech advisory or ABS banking/trading role), hedge fund, asset manager, rating agency, or law firm
• Experience structuring and executing ABS financing transactions, including warehouse facilities, loan sales / forward flow, and/or securitizations
• Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
• Clear communicator, excellent analytical skills, and attention to detail
• Track record of recruiting, developing, and managing top capital markets talent
• Experience with SQL or Python is a plus
