THE ROLE

OLIPOP is searching for a Category Analyst to join our team and effectively deliver insights that build and develop compelling data stories to increase sales and market share. In this role you will support cross functionally to provide ongoing reporting, pull syndicated and performance data, and build and maintain dashboards to track metrics/KPIs. The Category Analyst plays a pivotal role in helping the sales team understand trends, opportunities and barriers within core categories, channels and retailers. Success in this role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to utilize data to tell compelling stories, enthusiasm for the Olipop mission, and curiosity and passion for understanding customer behavior.

COMPENSATION

$75,000-$85,000

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fluently utilize syndicated data platforms such as SPINS and Nielsen to mine data in efforts to develop insights to support all departments. 

Support Category Management on weekly/monthly data needs.

Own, create, and maintain weekly data pulls for customer scorecards on various measures such as volume, distribution etc.

Assist in forecasting sales growth using historical data, and perform analysis that supports new opportunities for distribution. 

Support data analysis for key sales initiatives, including retailer performance analysis and various ad-hoc analyses (sku assortment, promotion, voids, new item launches). 

Analyze syndicated and other sources of data to observe and understand trends, opportunities and barriers within core categories, channels and retailers.

Conduct analysis and insights that prove or disprove opportunities. 

Assist sales team members in building retailer presentations.

Ad hoc reporting/analysis as needed to support cross-functional teams and leadership.

Autonomously manage concurrent projects and requests of varying importance, urgency, and impact with ability to adjust priorities based on opportunities/needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in a related area (category/sales analyst), preferably in the consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills required; Previous experience working with SPINS, Nielsen or other syndicated research systems is preferred.
  • Ability to deliver insights across a variety of formats as needed to tell the story to the given audience (verbal, email, spreadsheets, charts and presentations).
  • Ability to develop internal and external presentations to small and large groups, and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and retail partners.
  • Ability to analyze, compare and interpret data, and make judgments based upon this knowledge. 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong planning, organization and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills. 
  • Team-oriented with ability to interact with all levels of employees in a professional and positive manner.
  • Self-starter/quick learner, but knows when to ask questions.
  • Enthusiastic and comfortable working in an early stage company. Ability to think rapidly in a growing and changing environment.
  • Experience working successfully with remote teams in multiple states, and working with collaboration tools, such as Zoom and Slack.

COVID-19

OLIPOP requires all employees, unless they have received an approved exemption as an accommodation for a medical issue or sincerely held religious belief, to be “up to date” on their vaccines prior to their date of hire. A person is considered “up to date” on their COVID-19 vaccines after they have received their primary series of doses and their booster shots, when eligible. When a person is not eligible for a booster, they are considered “up to date” two weeks after they receive the final dose of their primary series. When a person is eligible for a booster, they are considered “up to date” immediately after they receive the booster. This policy applies to any vaccine authorized to prevent COVID-19 by the FDA, including by way of an emergency use authorization, or by the World Health Organization (WHO), or an active COVID-19 clinical trial (non-placebo).
