At Helion, we are constantly building and creating new things. The challenge we face is the need for improved methods of storing, purifying, and processing radioisotopes. To meet this challenge, Helion is hiring a Chemical Process Engineer.
As our Chemical Process Engineer, you will support the design, development, and evaluation of storage, purification, and processing systems. You will perform hands-on builds, prototyping, diagnostics, analysis, and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will perform theoretical and experimental analyses for materials, thermal management, and radiochemistry. Finally, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all the necessary safety, licensing, and regulatory processes.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or related field, along with 2+ years of experience in a related field, though more advanced candidates will be considered for expanded roles. They will be highly detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of chemical process engineering principles. They will also have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently.
Qualifications
- Experts' skills with small-tube vacuum systems,
- Demonstrated experience scaling up chemical processes and recommending equipment,
- Experience developing calibration procedures,
About You:
- Problem Solver – you can identify areas for improvement and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Critical Thinker – you use reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, are skilled at assigning metrics to objectively evaluate options, and connect your work back to the application
- Bachelors, MS, or equivalent expertise in vacuum systems. It is a bonus if you have familiarity with chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, or physics
- 4+ years of hands-on work with small-tube vacuum systems or semiconductor work in clean rooms
