Chief Information Officer

Defines and drives the airport’s information systems strategy, digital transformation, and cybersecurity governance to ensure secure, integrated systems supporting operations and growth.
The Chief Information Officer is responsible for defining and driving the airport’s information system strategy, digital transformation agenda, and cybersecurity governance, ensuring secure, robust, integrated, and future-ready information systems that support operational excellence and business growth.
The CIO plays a critical role in maintaining 24/7 operational continuity for airport systems supporting passengers, airlines, security, baggage handling, operations, and administrative services.
- IT Team management
Define the IT service organization, establish and evaluate team members' objectives, and design and optimize the processes and working methods within the IT service. Manage, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary IT team
- IT Strategy and Digital Transformation Leadership
Define and lead the medium and long-term IT strategy and digital transformation roadmap aligned with airport business objectives.
- IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture
Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks, standards, and enterprise architecture across all systems.
- Cybersecurity Strategy and Oversight
- Define cybersecurity strategy, oversee risk posture, and ensure protection of critical systems, infrastructure, and data.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, aviation regulations, and data protection standards.
- Participate in risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity activities.
- Manage security incidents and coordinate remediation actions.
- Technology Investment Planning and Prioritization
Lead planning and approval of IT investments, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and return on investment.
- Enterprise Systems Integration Oversight
Ensure integration and interoperability of key airport systems including AODB, CUPPS, FIDS, ERP, CMMS, and security platforms.
- Data Governance and Digital Capability Development
Establish data governance frameworks and promote data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- IT Risk Management and Compliance Oversight
Oversee IT-related risks and ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements.
- Innovation and Technology Advancement
Identify and drive adoption of emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment
Engage with executive leadership, operations, and external partners to align IT initiatives with business needs.
- IT Performance and Governance Reporting
Establish KPIs and dashboards to monitor IT performance, cybersecurity posture, and system effectiveness.
- IT Maintenance – RUN phase
Establish IT maintenance organization and process to ensure the continuity, integrity, availability of IT services
- IT Project – BUILD phase
- Accountable for the successful execution and delivery of IT projects during the Build phase, ensuring effective coordination of technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate deployments, migrations, and system integrations
- Manage relationships with external suppliers, contractors, and airport partners.
- Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Professional Certifications
ITIL, COBIT, ISO 27001, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certifications are an added advantage.
- Experience
10–15 years’ experience in IT leadership, digital transformation, or enterprise systems management.
Previous team management experience required.
Experience in critical 24/7 operational environments is highly desirable.
Experience in aviation, critical infrastructure, or large enterprise IT environments is an added advantage.
- Language
Proficiency in both English and Swahili.
