Close Protection Officer
We are looking for a Close Protection Officer to ensure the safety and security of designated individuals, often high-profile clients, by implementing and maintaining effective protective measures. Reporting to the Head of Ukraine Operations, you will be responsible for providing close protection, conducting risk assessments, and implementing security protocols to ensure the safety of clients.
Responsibilities:
These are the key things that you are responsible for delivering within your role. There will be activities and tasks in addition to this list that are expected from you but the majority of your time will be:
1. Close Protection
- Provide close protection to designated individuals, ensuring their safety and security at all times.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop personalized security plans for clients.
- Implement and maintain security protocols, including route planning, venue assessments, and contingency plans.
- Be flexible and have developed contingency plans in conjunction with an Ops planning team.
2. Counter Surveillance and Threat Assessment
- Monitor and analyse potential threats, assessing risks and vulnerabilities.
- Utilize counter surveillance techniques to identify and mitigate potential security issues.
- Stay informed about current security trends and threats to enhance proactive measures.
- Familiar with counter STAP, especially with air threats.
3. Communication and Coordination
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the client, security team, and relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including military, NGO and INGO.
- React swiftly and decisively to emerging security situations.
- Experienced with working with Language Assistants
4. Emergency Response
- Develop and rehearse emergency response plans, ensuring quick and effective reactions to any security incidents.
- Provide first aid or coordinate medical assistance in the event of injuries or medical emergencies.
5. Professional Conduct
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain the trust and confidence of the client.
Requirements
You will have:
- Proven experience as a Close Protection Officer or in a similar role.
- Military/Law Enforcement experience is essential.
- Excellent situational awareness and problem-solving skills.
- Strong physical fitness and endurance.
- Proficient in self-defence techniques and defensive driving.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel into very high-risk areas in combat zones
- Ukrainian or Russian languages skills will offer a significant advantage
Licences/Certifications:
- Current (in date) SIA Close Protection licence (required)
- FREC3/FPOS or equivalent (required)
- Full UK Driving Licence (required)
- Additional certifications in advanced first aid, defensive driving, and firearms handling are advantageous.
