POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Community Relations Coordinator supports the strategic impact of the Detroit Lions Community Relations and Detroit Lions Foundation efforts. This position will serve as lead for department administrative duties, coordinating activations for NFL initiatives and collaborating with colleagues to create meaningful community engagement opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Community Relations Coordinator position will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:

  • Responsible for responding to all ticket donation requests, invoices, inquiries, e-mails and correspondence
  • Serve as lead or provide support for assigned department events and initiatives
  • Support Detroit Lions Foundation fundraising and outreach initiatives, including but not limited to, online auctions and raffles, gameday 50/50, leadership council giving and NFL grant applications
  • Support engagement of players, cheerleaders, Legends and Roary in community relations activities
  • Manage the inventory process of the department’s promotional items
  • Assist with the distribution of community tickets, game day suite coordination, and game day duties as appropriate
  • Work with Corporate Communications team for the development and production of the Community Relations Annual Report, Website and Social Content, and other administrative duties
  • Support the Detroit Lions vision and mission by contributing to the organizational long-term goals

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide support in adhering to and managing Community Relations and Detroit Lions Charities department budget
  • Provide overall department administrative support
  • Must work ALL Detroit Lions home games each season and perform other duties as assigned
  • Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Maintain professionalism when communicating with internal and external contacts
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Will keep appropriate information confidential
  • Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing. 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Will adjust schedule as needed to meet work goals and time constraints.
  • May require work out of both the Ford Field Management Office and the Allen Park Training Facility
  • Bachelor’s degree in public Relations, Communications, Business or related field required.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced corporate community relations, partnership marketing and/or cause marketing unit required
  • Some experience with non-profit or public policy-oriented office a plus (e.g., government, consultancy, or policy/political organizations).
  • Previous experience in a professional sports or entertainment venue preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to connect with, and relate to, all levels of staff, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively adjust to rapidly changing market and business conditions.

  • Team oriented attitude, relationship building, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office products, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint with the ability to learn new programs.
  • Strength in time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
