Underwater Mechanix Services (UMX) is looking for a Construction Project Manager who knows how to lead difficult projects, solve problems in real time, and keep operations moving in demanding federal environments.

We perform challenging marine and heavy civil work for USACE and NAVFAC clients, and we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of execution from start to finish.

This role is not for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day. We’re looking for a detail oriented leader who understands field operations, communicates directly, and takes pride in delivering projects safely, professionally, and profitably.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead federal marine and heavy civil projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Create and manage schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Coordinate field operations and maintain accountability across teams
  • Manage UMX teams and subcontractors on your projects
  • Identify problems early and drive solutions before they impact production
  • Maintain compliance with USACE, NAVFAC, and EM 385-1-1 requirements
  • Drive project performance while maintaining strong safety and quality standards
  • Work closely with leadership, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to keep projects moving

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of federal construction project management experience
  • USACE and/or NAVFAC experience REQUIRED
  • A professional who commands respect through proficiency
  • Marine or heavy civil experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of contracts, scheduling, and project controls
  • Experience using Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar systems
  • Ability to lead teams and make decisions in fast-moving project environments
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Someone who takes ownership and holds a high standard of execution

Who Succeeds Here

The people who do well at UMX are:

  • Self-directed
  • Accountable
  • Strong ability to plan ahead
  • Calm under pressure
  • Operationally minded
  • Detail-oriented
  • Team-first
  • Comfortable handling difficult projects and challenging conditions

We value people who show up prepared, communicate directly, and take pride in delivering quality work.

If you’re looking for a role where you can lead challenging federal marine projects and work alongside experienced operators who value execution and accountability, we’d like to talk.
