Corporate Counsel, EMEA
Role Purpose:
Jumio is looking for an experienced, commercially-focused lawyer to lead its EMEA legal matters as EMEA Corporate Counsel. This role will report to the General Counsel and be based in the company’s London office.
This role will support the EMEA sales team, as well as the business generally, including with respect to EMEA data privacy, regulatory, employment, real estate, and general business and commercial law matters.

You will have significant access and exposure to core commercial elements of the business and will operate as a trusted advisor to various stakeholders within the company, particularly those based in EMEA. You will have a significant opportunity to exercise your skillset as a commercial negotiator, as well as to handle a broad range of legal matters impacting the company, while working as a key member of a proactive legal team.
Responsibilities:
- Commercial contracting — work closely with EMEA sales team to negotiate SaaS B2B customer and partner agreements, as well as other commercial agreements, from start to finish
- Data privacy and information security — provide support in this subject area, particularly from a sales and compliance perspective
- Regulatory - provide support for regulatory reviews
- Employment matters — counsel HR team and manage external HR counsel
- Corporate matters — assist in managing corporate governance requirements for EMEA based subsidiaries
- Disputes - manage dispute resolution and litigation matters
- Support varied other in-house legal matters as needed
- Travel — periodically to one of Jumio’s global locations or as negotiations and other matters require
Experience and Qualifications:
- Licensed attorney in England and Wales, or European bar qualifications, with 10+ years relevant experience
- Deep knowledge of European data privacy and protection laws
- Extremely practical approach to practicing law within a company setting
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional drafting (clear and streamlined), negotiation, project management and interpersonal skills
- True team player
- Excellent judgement
- Positive attitude and good sense of humor
- Ownership and accountability mentality
- Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have significant experience in the following areas, with a SaaS or software focus:
- Commercial technology agreements (customer, partner, supplier and other agreement drafting, review and negotiations)
- Privacy (development, explanation and negotiation of EMEA based privacy postures)
- Regulatory (strong knowledge of the mechanics of regulatory frameworks, and significant experience coordinating and responding to regulatory and compliance matters)
- Employment (HR matters generally)
- Corporate ( governance for EMEA entities)
- Legal operations (development and improvement of systems used by legal teams)
Great to have Experience and Qualifications:
- Prior in-house experience within a high-growth technology company is a major plus
- CIPP/E certification
- Experience working with a U.S. based company
