About the team

Stripe’s M&A and Investing team takes a long-term view of Stripe’s opportunities and the broader ecosystem, partnering with our product teams to continuously evaluate whether we should build, buy, or partner (and invest) in strategic areas. In the last few years, we’ve invested in a large number of amazing companies and have also significantly ramped our M&A pace. And we’re just getting started!

What you’ll do

Our team is in the early build phase, which means there’s no shortage of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and work with great leaders and execs across the org to refine and execute on our business strategy. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Development, you hold a senior and influential role in charting Stripe’s future. Fishing in the most heavily capitalized VC sector, there is a massive opportunity to connect Stripe to emerging themes, great companies, and identify/sponsor strategic initiatives to measurably fuel Stripe’s ongoing growth.

Responsibilities

• Evolve and crystallize Stripe’s long-term business strategy using external and internal research, in partnership with Stripe’s leadership, product, and strategy teams
• Actively network with the world’s best founders and investors, keeping your ear to ground on emerging trends and sourcing exceptional products and companies
• Lead cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate potential M&A and investment targets
• Create executive and board-facing briefs that enable the organization to make informed decisions on key strategic issues
• Drive all aspects of deal execution, from evaluation, negotiation, and integration hypothesis planning
• Track acquisition and investment performance (financial and strategic) and conduct ROI “lookbacks” on deal and integration success
• Publish internal memos on key networking & industry findings to agitate and provoke Stripe to think differently.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

• 12+ years of quality work experience with a background in product management, engineering, M&A, corp dev, biz ops, or strategy & operations, and/or M&A and investing experience in high-growth, product-led environments
• Prior corporate or venture experience leading the execution of acquisitions or investments; demonstrated ability to autonomously own a process from start to Close+
• A general understanding of Stripe’s products and business
• Strong critical thinking skills and passion for solving ambiguous or complex business issues
• A self-starting mentality and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-growth and often ambiguous environments
• Strong analytical capabilities; able to analyze and derive insights from financial and cohort data; ability to cut through the noise to get to the most important lever
• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional settings; track record of driving groups of senior partners to decisions and results
• Exceptional written and communication skills

Preferred qualifications

• Strong founder and investor network
• A deep roster of completed transactions and developed muscle memory of large/small transactions and acquisitions across geographies
• Demonstrated high degree of interest and expertise in the fintech space
• Fintech or developer-focused industry experience
