Curriculum Developer (Remote)
Cambly is an online platform for students of all ages to learn English from a native speaking English teacher in 1-to-1 lessons on our mobile app or website. Our students live in over 200 countries, and many don't have access to native English speakers other than on Cambly.
We are currently hiring Curriculum Developers for adult ESL lessons taught on the Cambly platform. Curriculum Developers are responsible for designing, creating, and editing a variety of educational and assessment materials aligned to international standards. Because Cambly lessons take place between one tutor and one student via video chat, it is important that our course materials take full advantage of this unique format. Cambly's product team is constantly building new learning tools and interactive capabilities for the curriculum team to leverage in the online classroom.
The ideal candidate for this role is creative, resourceful, great at project management, and able to collaborate well with a diverse, 100% remote team. Cambly is a fast-paced ed-tech startup, so the ideal candidate needs a hustler spirit and a passion for delivering exceptional, innovative content.
What you'll do
- Craft English lessons for adults of various English levels
- Plan comprehensive courses aligned to CEFR benchmarks for ESL learnersSet learning objectives for courses and individual lesson plans
- Write and edit standards-based assessment items and reading passages
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams from international markets
- Use style and procedure guides to ensure consistency across contentUse proprietary authoring tools for content development
- Consistently meet assigned deadlines and quality standards
- Impact teachers and students across the globe at an incredible scale
Requirements for this role
- Experience as a curriculum designer, instructional designer or similar role
- Graduate degree in TEFL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or similar
- 3 years’ experience in English education (teaching, lesson planning, and/or curriculum development)
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced startup environment
- Project management experience or aptitude
- Proficiency in modern technologies such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Docs
- An eye for visual design and presentational clarity
- Eagerness to share and receive feedback as a part of a small yet effective curriculum team
- A passion for education and intuition for what makes an engaging learning experience
