Damage Field Investigator

PRG has an immediate need for a talented, self-motivated, and full-time Field Investigator for our Outside Plant Damage Recovery Group in the Telecom Division. A strong sense of organization, as well as a flexible schedule, will be required due to the various responsibilities as outlined below.

  • On-site investigation of underground and aerial cable and fiber optic damages
  • Daily local travel to damage locations required.
  • Individual will learn, understand, and be able to utilize applicable 811 Statutes, excavator requirements, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards.
  • Develop a professional working relationship with the client, their contractors, technicians, management team and other personnel.
  • Develop a solid working relationship with the client’s locate company and exchange investigation information.
  • Conduct interviews on damage sites with contractors, technicians, witnesses, police, homeowners, etc.
  • Professionally photograph and process the damage scene to accurately portray and determine liability. 
  • Conduct a fact and evidence-based investigation in a timely manner including review of available public records such as motor vehicle crash reports, contacting excavators for proof of locate requests and any other relevant information to determine liability and root cause of damage.
  • Compile all investigation material electronically including a summary report of the damage and the determination of liability and submit to the recovery team for processing.   
  • Assist Claims Recovery team post-investigation.
  • Be available to field damage calls and respond across the market when dispatched.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the entire PRG claims process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Reliable and presentable personal vehicle with valid driver’s license and current insurance; min BI/PD 100/300/100 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as an ability to navigate a variety of web based operational tasks including business email communication.
  • Investigation experience
  • Knowledge of the cable and fiber optic industry and/or underground utility construction and maintenance preferred.
  • Flexible work schedule: dispatched to reported damages of the client’s facilities as they occur. This can include damages day or night and in varying weather conditions.
  • Prior utility damage investigation a plus
  • Claims background a plus

Compensation

  • $58k-$62k/annually based on applicable experience.
