Data and Reporting Analyst

Responsibilities 

What are the primary responsibilities of this role? 

  • Identify business needs and build reporting and analysis to support and track the effectiveness of the business strategy.
  • Translate business needs into comprehensive data modeling with complex joins between data sets.
  • Proactively analyze metrics and data out of own curiosity and to respond to questions from key stakeholders.
  • Maintain data models that support long-term business needs and solutions.
  • Optimize current data models to reduce redundancy and support self-service for data end-users in BI tools.
  • Maintain KPI reporting for departments and perform analysis to measure success rates.
  • Create BI/data visualizations that are digestible and maintain automated reporting.
  • Work alongside the Data Engineering team to implement new data pipelines, and logical and physical data models in the process.
  • Develop best practices for existing and new data modeling structure and naming conventions.
  • Validate data models against physical databases for variance and data integrity.
  • Analyze data requirements for new systems and scope integration into BI tooling and databases.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical data models.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the mathematical foundations of statistical inference and forecasting such as time series analysis, multivariate analysis, cluster analysis, and optimization.
  • Software Development experience [preferably].
  • Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (Looker) to represent insights.
  • Experience working with dimensionally modeled data.
  • Experience in translating/mapping relational data models into XML and Schemas.
  • Tools and Skills:
    • Data analysis and modeling tools [Looker and writing in LookML]
    • SQL and/or PL/SQL
    • RDBMS platforms (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, Netezza, Teradata, DB2 / UDB)
    • MS Office Suite and/or G-Suite
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience
  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent experience
