Data Engineer (up to £50,000)

About the role

As a Data Engineer, you will work across our digital publishing platform which serves over 60 million users per month. You'll be working with our highly skilled Data Engineering team to architect a solution capable of scaling to the vast amounts of data we consume. You'll also work closely with our Delivery Manager, stakeholders, and analysts to understand and deliver critical business requirements.

You'll have an in-depth understanding of the basics along with an enthusiasm for learning and developing your skills further.


As a Data Engineer you will;

  • Immerse yourself in our technical ecosystem, current and legacy
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain quality of data and our ETL processes
  • Ingest data from various disparate data sources
  • Follow our standards, best practices and guidelines and be proactive in improving them
  • Collaborate with other team members and the Delivery Manager to progress our Data strategy
  • Keep up to date with industry and technical developments
  • Participate in planning meetings and stand-ups
  • Foster good working relationships with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders

Requirements

  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Understanding of Data Modelling
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud services
  • Blob Storage\Data Lake
  • Experience with software/coding languages such as Python, C#
  • Knowledge and understanding of visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI etc.)
  • Problem solving skills and capable of articulating technical or functional problems
  • Inquisitive approach to tasks and willingness to learn
  • Databricks
