Position Summary:

Join UHN’s AI Hub as a Data Science Specialist and be at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare innovation! In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate with top-tier clinicians, researchers, and experts to develop cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions that transform hospital efficiency, research, and patient care. From working with complex datasets, building agent systems to building powerful NLP models and interpreting multi-modal data, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of AI in healthcare. Duties:

  • Develop AI and ML solutions – Design and implement AI models and intelligent agent systems to optimize hospital operations and improve patient care. Apply AI methodologies to uncover novel insights and advance scientific exploration in healthcare.
  • Process and analyze large datasets – Clean, organize, and preprocess diverse data types, including genomic, imaging, tabular, and clinical notes, for AI-driven insights.
  • Build and refine NLP models – Develop natural language processing models to extract critical information from clinical and research data.
  • Integrate agent-based systems – Develop and deploy AI-driven agent systems to automate tasks, enhance decision-making, and support healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and researchers – Work closely with healthcare providers to translate AI solutions, including agent-based approaches, into clinical practice.
  • Perform quality assurance testing – Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of AI and agent systems through rigorous validation and testing.
  • Support and maintain AI applications – Provide ongoing technical support and iterative improvements for AI-powered healthcare solutions, including autonomous agent systems.
  • Stay ahead of AI advancements – Keep up with emerging trends in AI, ML, and agent-based modeling to continuously enhance the AI Hub’s capabilities.
  • Master’s Degree required, PhD would be an asset, in machine learning, computer science, bioinformatics, statistics, applied mathematics or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 6 years related experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to utilize a collaborative approach to solving challenging problems.
  • Experience with developing and implementing NLP models and agent systems.
  • Experience with Python (scikit-learn, Pandas, etc.) and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch).
  • Experience with healthcare data types, topics, and scientific challenges and approaches.
  • Familiarity with HPC environment and running applications in HPC clusters.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor others and work collaboratively with clinicians and researchers.
