The Job
Health Data Science team leverages medical and behavioural insights from more than 50 millions active Flo users to innovate health related products with statistical and machine learning modelling. Solutions we build are rooted in our medical knowledge, technical skills, product expertise, and in constant search for better understanding of our customers’ needs. We work on problems of menstrual cycle modelling, finding patterns and regularities in symptoms, symptoms prediction, utilising data from wearable devices and more. We not only translate product vision into the language of statistics, we generate this vision. It is an experienced team of 2 data scientists and 1 data engineer working in close contact with product teams and engineers. We value your quantitative skills, obsession with data, empathy toward customers, and a product-oriented mindset.
Your Experience
Must have:
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst
- Demonstrated end-to-end experience in predictive analytics and machine learning
- Deep understanding of statistics and ML fundamentals
- The ability to communicate complex ideas effectively with technical and non-technical team members alike.
- Experience in wrapping solutions in dollars and communicating its value with executives.
- Broad interest in prototyping, storytelling, data journalism and alike
- Strong interest in the health domain
- A degree in statistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, economics, or a closely related field
Nice to have:
- Graduate degree in statistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, economics, or a closely related field
- Knowledge of big data technologies (Redshift, HDFS/S3, Spark, Kafka/Kinesis, etc.)
- Experience at the tier 1 product company or related experience working within the product or research organisation.
- Experience with the ML adoption in regulated industries (finance, health)
- Experience with the health domain
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Designing predictive models and machine learning algorithms in the health domain
- Developing and conducting experiments to validate models you build
- Communicating and visualising insights to product teams and broader stakeholders
- Developing comprehensive knowledge about data structures and metrics, advocating for changes for product development
