DEI Program Manager
Stripe exists to expand internet commerce and allow greater access to the online economy. We believe that talent is distributed equally but opportunity is not, and we aim to break down barriers to access by making it easy for new businesses and nonprofits to get started and equipping them with the tools they need to grow.
To do this work, we need diverse teams who can draw on experience, expertise, and personal dedication to build for users from a vast array of backgrounds and circumstances. And to truly unlock talent and create a strong employee culture, we need to ensure an equitable and inclusive work environment so that Stripes are supported to do exceptional work as their authentic selves, inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, races, educational backgrounds, ages, and other personal characteristics.
Stripe is looking for a Program Manager to join our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team and help us fulfill this mission. We are actively seeking candidates from a diverse background.
You will:
- Design and execute a strategy to scale our employee resource group program for Stripes across the globe, creating strong operational structures that foster community and empower employees to advocate for policy changes at the organization.
- Measure the impact of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and initiatives using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Organize, facilitate, and moderate org-wide events that educate and create community around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Collaborate on DEI initiatives across the people team or other functional teams.
- Create partnerships with external industry and advocacy partners that can help Stripe become a leader in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion
- Coach our Global Community Leads to help them grow in their capacity as organizers, advocates, and representatives of their communities.
- Support leaders around the company to problem solve salient emerging issues affecting Stripe employees in specific communities or locations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Expertise studying or navigating complex social and political systems that affect individual and group participation in professional and civic life
- Expertise in program strategy and project management, including examples of past challenges, solutions, and impact
- Experience working on justice-related, cross-functional organizing initiatives with demonstrated evidence of impact and progress in professional or public settings
- The ability to draw energy and support from a wide variety of distinct stakeholders to get things done, create leverage, and mobilize internal advocates
- The resilience, empathy, and determination to advocate for underrepresented groups
- Knowledge of how to use data to influence program strategy and tell compelling stories about organizational effectiveness and impact
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn around time-sensitive, high-visibility comms on sensitive topics related to race, gender, class, sexuality, and ability status
It would also be great if you have:
- Experience advising and influencing senior leaders/executives on diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives
- Academic training and research experience in relevant humanities or social sciences fields (candidates who have completed doctoral coursework but not their dissertations are encouraged to apply)
- Academic training and/or lived experience of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics outside the United States
It’s not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all of these areas. We’re looking for candidates who are particularly strong in program management and community-based advocacy work, and who have done some work -- and have interest in developing skills and capabilities -- in the others.
You should include these in your application:
- A resume and/or LinkedIn profile.
- A cover letter explaining how your specific experiences have positioned you to be an advocate for and designer of equitable systems.
- Other information or materials you think would best help us understand your background and achievements to date.
