At Figma we are creating a community of practice where our users can connect, learn, and advance their skills through sharing with each other. Our Designer Advocates are at the core of our Figma Community — online, in written and video content, and in live interactions with our users. This Designer Advocate’s area of specialization is education—they will be a key partner to support our marketing team in helping add design credibility and product knowledge to our messaging and conversations with users, focusing specifically on enabling educators and students bring Figma into the classroom.

This is a fulltime role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the continental United States.

What you'll be doing:

  • Present and demo Figma in the classroom — not just how Figma works, but paint a picture of how a collaborative environment for design can be integrated into the classroom and provide a better learning experience for both educators and students
  • Motivate and empower evangelists — Maintain relationships with users in the education space. Manage networks of evangelists who participate in beta programs, contribute content and run local communities
  • Create resources— Share best practices & tips, publish community Figma files, and host live streams to help users and educators better understand how to use the tool and encourage others to share their learnings and experiences
  • Messaging — Collaborate closely with marketing to ensure our website, resources, and outreach most effectively speak to students and educators
  • Events — Speak regularly at meet ups, conferences, hackathons, schools, and education-focused interest groups
  • Advocate for user interests with product team — Keep a pulse on community sentiment on product releases. Share product feedback from community with PM & Design in an organized, systematic way. Act as trusted advisor for launches to prepare for community reaction

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with Figma’s features and the workflows it enables
  • Is excited to think creatively about how to bring Figma into the classroom
  • Has an understanding of the evolving challenges of today’s design workflows, and how collaboration fits in, whether that be in an industry or classroom setting
  • Has some visual design skills, and is comfortable with producing resources within brand guidelines
  • You have a real entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy iterating on projects from early experimental ideas through to completion
  • Comfort-level with up to 25% of travel(post-COVID)
  • Is passionate about supporting the next generation of designers

  • While not required, one or all of: fluency in a language other than English, strong written communication, videography skills would be a plus for this role

Here are some projects you could work on:

  • Presentation decks to help articulate the benefit of how students and educators can work together in real time using Figma
  • Figma file resources that could be used for collaborative activities in Figma
  • Livestream/video content to help users or educators onboard and connect with others in the Figma community
