Direct Import Manager
The Direct Import Manager will work closely with the Business Development, Direct Import, Inventory, and Logistics teams in addition to multiple 3PL providers. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient delivery of inbound freight on time, at the lowest total cost, while adhering to all customer requirements. The Direct Import Manager will implement procedures and controls to monitor that the company exercises reasonable care and maintains the highest standards of compliance to domestic and overseas laws and regulations, taking corrective measures and initiatives as necessary to achieve desired results. Position is fast paced, handling many day-to-day problems while also leading the teams to meet tight deadlines.

Essential Functions
- Manage inbound costs according to budget which requires close management of all inbound containers with vendors, forwarders, and trucking providers
- Lead cross-functional project teams to drive process improvements and efficiencies in this area.
- Develop reports to track the performance and provide tracking and forecasting visibility to internal business partners
- Establish service and cost metrics and publish scorecards
- Communicate status of function to all levels of the organization
- Direct customs brokers for timely and accurate filing of import entries.
- Manage the flow of all inbound containers from booking to arrival.
- Work with service providers on shipping rate requests, quotes, and booking.
- Ensure all shipments are compliant with all government agencies.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers, for all international transportation and clearance of goods.
- Assist in quote building process for new products through retail link system.
- Maintain and improve SKU building for DI program.
Qualifications & Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 5+ years related experience leading import/export shipments, ocean freight, freight forwarders, and international logistics required.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel including advanced Vlookups and Pivot Tables.
- Experience with Microsoft GreatPlains accounting software is a plus.
- Attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with high degree of problem-solving skills.
- A systemic approach to problem solving.
- Work well in a team-oriented environment.
