Direct Support Person (F/T)
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities! CCAR Industries is hiring a permanent, full-time (40 hour per week) Direct Support Personnel (DSPs) in our Residential Program.

SCHEDULE
- This is 40 hours per week. It will be 3 pm - Midnight on Sunday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Saturday, depending upon the employee's preference at the time of hire. (Note that one work day will be shortened to equal 40 hours per week.)
- Must be available to work one shift during two of three holiday seasons: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive in the daytime or at night
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Provide proof of a high school diploma (via transcripts from an accredited school) or GED
- Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
- Successfully complete and maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification
- Successfully complete Direct Support Person training in accordance with IDHS requirements
- Pass the Short Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults (S-TOFHLA)
- Successfully complete medication administration training and annual recertifications to maintain medication administration status
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support individuals in self-advocacy and making informed choices
- Assist with bathing, showering, toileting, feeding, meal preparation, grooming/hygiene, wound-care, mobility, and laundry
- Provide emotional support to the individuals served
- Prepare food items according to dietary needs and preferences
- Pass medications in accordance with IDHS Rule 116
- Transport individuals using agency-owned vehicles
- Assist in obtaining, counting, documenting, and returning (as required) money used by the individuals served
- Complete house safety checks and communicate house safety concerns to your supervisor as they arise
- Keep the common living areas of the homes clean and assist individuals, as requested, to maintain their personal living areas
- Provide and document services, supports, health-related concerns, and medication administration in accordance with agency policies
- Treat the individuals served, co-workers, guardians, and all others in the workplace in a professional manner that reflects the agency’s Code of Conduct
- Clock in and out for all shifts and enter requested time off using the MITC system
- Show up on time and as scheduled for all assigned shifts
- Complete all required in-service material reviews
- Attend all in-service meetings, trainings, and house meetings
- Report abuse and neglect in accordance with OIG Rule 50
- Abide by CCAR’s Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, and Corporate Compliance policies at all times
WAGES
- This position starts at $18.75/hour as staff members receive paid training.

When all training is completed, the employee will earn $19/hour
- Once all training is complete, the wage will increase to $19.25/hour.
